What are the steps?

  1. Find Hot % on the Leads tab

Open Pages, open your page and go to the Leads tab. Every lead has a Hot %, from what they did before submitting: active time on the page, how far they scrolled and how many clicks they made. 70% and up is hot, 40% and up is warm.

  2. See how Hot % is scored

Click How is Hot % scored? next to the Hot % filter. It opens Configure Sheets at the How Hot % is scored card. The default is Automatic: each lead is compared with your page's best leads. With fewer than 20 leads the best value so far counts as 100%; from 20 leads on, a single standout doesn't set it.

  3. Switch to My own target

Click My own target and decide what a ready lead does on your page. The fields are Time on page (min and sec), Scrolled (%) and Clicks. Leave a box empty to leave that signal out. In the video: 3 min 0 sec and 80% scrolled, with Clicks left empty.

  4. Save the target

Your target is averaged, not a checklist: each signal is scored against its target and the scores are averaged. Click Save target. Every lead on this page is re-scored, and your sheet's Hot % column is updated too.

  5. See the new scores

Back on Leads, the scores have changed. Open the Hot % filter and pick Hot only (70%+) to see the leads to call first, or Warm and hot (40%+) for a wider list.

  6. Check your Google Sheet

On Configure Sheets, click Open sheet. The HOT % column shows the same values as the Leads tab. If a row is ever missing, click Re-sync.

0:00Intro: who to call first

Once you're collecting leads with ownyourclick, the Hot % tells you who's most interested. So you know who to call first. If you don't know how to collect leads with ownyourclick yet, I've made a video for that. Check the link in the description, or the card at the top of this video. Here's the Leads tab for my page.

0:18Step 1: Find Hot % on the Leads tab

Every lead gets a Hot %, from what they did before submitting: time on the page, how far they scrolled, and how many clicks they made. 70% and up is hot, and 40% and up is warm. To see how it's worked out, click How is Hot % scored?

0:33Step 2: How Hot % is scored (Automatic)

It opens Configure Sheets, at the last card: How Hot % is scored. The default is Automatic. It compares each lead with your best leads. With fewer than 20 leads, the best value so far counts as 100%. From 20 leads on, it uses the 95th percentile, so a single standout doesn't set it. To set your own goal, switch to My own target.

0:59Step 3: Set your own target

Decide what a ready lead does on your page, for example, 3 minutes on the page and 80% scrolled. The fields are Time on page, Scrolled, and Clicks. Leave a box empty to leave that signal out. I've left Clicks empty, so only time and scroll count.

1:19Averaged, not a checklist + Save target

Your target is averaged, not a checklist. Each signal is scored against your target, and the scores are averaged. So someone who scrolled 80%, but read for only a minute and a quarter, can still come out hot. Then click Save target. Every lead on this page is re-scored, and your sheet's Hot % column is updated too. Back on Leads, the scores have changed.

1:41Step 4: See the new scores

Karthik stays at 100%. Priya goes from 71% to 86%. And Meena goes from 36% to 55%, so she's now warm. Open the Hot % filter, and pick Hot only (70%+). These are the leads to call first.

2:01Step 5: Check your Google Sheet

Your Google Sheet gets the new scores too. On Configure Sheets, click Open sheet. The HOT % column shows the same values: 55%, 100% and 86%. Let's recap.

Questions

What do people ask?

What does Hot % measure?+

How ready a lead looks from what they did on your page before submitting: active time on the page, how far they scrolled and how many clicks they made, and, if you switch on Count return visits, how many times they came back. Source, device and form answers are not used.

What counts as hot and warm?+

70% and up is hot and 40% and up is warm. On the Leads tab, the Hot % filter has Hot only (70%+) and Warm and hot (40%+).

Does a lead have to meet every part of my target?+

No. Your target is averaged, not a checklist. Each signal is scored against its target and the scores are averaged, so someone who scrolled 80% but read for only a minute and a quarter can still come out hot. A lead that meets every target scores 100%.

How does Automatic mode work?+

It compares each lead with your page's own best leads. With fewer than 20 leads, the best value so far counts as 100%. From 20 leads on it uses the 95th percentile, so a single standout doesn't set it.

What if I don't care about clicks?+

Leave the Clicks box empty. An empty box leaves that signal out, so only the signals you fill in are scored.

Do my existing leads and Google Sheet change when I save?+

Yes. When you click Save target, every lead on the page is re-scored and your sheet's Hot % column is updated to match.
